Tuesday the 26th

John 18:40

40They shouted back, "No, not him! Give us Barabbas!" Now Barabbas had taken part in a rebellion

Barabbas one of the  first men saved by Christ….. He was if you think about it, given a second chance, because of Christ. Could you imagine being in Barabbas’ position, sitting in a cell awaiting the punishment for crimes you had committed. When out of the blue guards show up and tell you that you get a get out of jail card. Not for anything that you had done, not because of any connections that you have, not because of your station in life, or your bank account, but simply because a man was going to take your place. We don’t know much about Barabbas, we don’t know what happened to him after his release, did he go back to the same old life that he had? Did he make good use of his second chance? We just don’t  know. What I can tell you is there is not a huge difference between Barabbas and each one of us. We too were sitting in our cells, awaiting judgment, awaiting our fate, and the same man that saved Barabbas is still saving people like me and you today. Each one of us is free to leave our cell, each one of us gets a second chance, not because we deserve it, not because of our accomplishment not because of our bank accounts, but simply because a man chose to hang on a cross, and pay the price for each of our sins. SO just like Barabbas, the age old question remains. What will you do with your second chance? Will you walk out of your prison cell and go right back to what you know, or will you seize upon the opportunity given, will you forge a life in honor of the Man who gave you that second chance? We all have taken part in rebellions, we all have a list of sins that are in our past, but they are gone, they all have been removed, it is your second chance, it is yours to use however you wish, let history record that you used in the name of the Lord.
